Professor Tongwen Xu

Professor Xu Tongwen has long been dedicated to membrane technology research, achieving systematic and creative results in the basic research and industrialization of ion membranes, as well as their applications in energy storage, hydrogen energy, and low-carbon transformation in the process industry. He has published over 600 papers in journals such as Nature, and has been selected for the Elsevier Highly Cited Authors list for 11 consecutive years from 2014 to 2024. He has been repeatedly included in the "Top 2% of the World's Leading Scientists" list published by Stanford University and Elsevier databases (ranking 12th globally in the chemical industry in the "Lifetime Scientific Impact Rankings" in 2024). He has been granted 110 invention patents, and his achievements have won one second prize of the National Technological Invention Award and seven first prizes at the provincial, ministerial, and industry association levels. He has also received honors such as the National May 1st Labor Medal, the Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Achievement Award, and the Special Government Allowance from the State Council.

Since its establishment in 2021, Suqian Times Energy Storage has embarked on a deep industry-university-research cooperation with Professor Xu Tongwen's team. With the breakthrough of anion exchange membrane technology as the core, they have jointly tackled the industrialization challenges of aqueous organic flow batteries, established the world's first wide-width anion membrane production line, and propelled the key technology of anion exchange membranes from the laboratory to mass production. The appointment of Professor Xu Tongwen as an academician is not only a significant event in the academic community but also an important milestone in our industry-university-research cooperation journey.
